Automated Inspection Software Reported to Save Time and Money (article link)
RALEIGH, N.C.—Earlier this year, Extensible CAD Technologies released InspectionXpert OnDemand, a web-enabled and completely redesigned version of the company’s flagship automated inspection software. InspectionXpert OnDemand is reported to save companies significant time and money by eliminating the time-consuming and error-prone processes of manually ballooning inspection drawings and manually creating inspection sheets for first article and in-process inspections.
According to Extensible CAD, InspectionXpert OnDemand enables manufacturers to quickly create error-free, ballooned inspection drawings from PDF and TIF files, which may be created from CAD files created in most CAD systems (CATIA V5, AutoCAD, Pro/ENGINEER, Solid Edge) or scanned paper drawings. It does not require CAD software, so companies that don’t use CAD to create or modify inspection drawings can still use InspectionXpert OnDemand to automate their quality inspection drawings. The software enables users to instantly export dimensions to standard inspection report forms, such as AS9102 and PPAP, as well as to user-customized report formats. These accurate quality inspection reports can then be quickly shared with inspectors, vendors, and clients.
Because it requires no installation, InspectionXpert OnDemand typically eliminates the need for IT support. Users simply click on a web link to instantly launch the software, and always have access to the latest version of the software every time they log on, the company says. InspectionXpert OnDemand also offers direct integration with Net-inspect quality management software, allowing users to publish their inspection ballooning data directly to their Net-Inspect account.
Net-inspect (www.net-inspect.com) is a fully-integrated, web-based suite of quality programs that is said to deliver “continuous improvement and major cost savings to aerospace manufacturers around the world.” Over 7,500 aerospace companies in 45 countries now use the Net-inspect system, which provides a supply chain visibility tool to manage quality via the Internet. The company is headquartered in Kirkland, Washington.
Extensible CAD Technologies (www.extensiblecad.com) was founded in 2004 by engineer and software developer, Jeffery N. Cope. The company focuses on the needs of CAD and PLM users, developing integrated software and productivity enhancement tools designed to eliminate manual processes.
